Technical Information
Volume
III of the VEP Catalog is loaded with technical information. This includes many
graphs, standards, diagrams, formulas, procedures and other useful information for
selecting the proper thermal package for a given application. For an on-line preview
of the technical data from our catalog, use the information below. Or you may
view/download the entire Technical Data section in PDF format.
Technical Data
The start of the technical information is page 4. This page is an introduction into the need to find
the thermal impedance or resistance (RØsa). This page includes a graph
of "Thermal Resistance v.s. Heat Sink Volume"

Page 5
describes some of the finishes VEP
provides as well as Fed/ASTM standards for the material used at VEP. The graph is
"Natural Convection Extrusion Length Selector"

Page 6 and Page
7 contains a discussion on thermal requirements for semiconductors. Also
included is an electrical schematic and formulas on how to figure which VEP standard
product is right for your application.

Page 8 and Page 9
contains information on Active Cooling Considerations, Performance Considerations, and
Mounting Pressures and Procedures. Also includes a graph "Typical Variation
Load v.s. Junction-Case Disc Pak Type Devices".

Page 16 and Page 17 contains
graphs of "DTsa - Sink Rise Above Ambient v.s.
Power Dissipation per Pair Sinks v.s. Thermal Resistance - Sink to Inlet Air" for all
standard VEP air cooled thermal kits.

Page 19 contains graphs "Power Module
Performance Natural and Forced Air Convection Module VM50153, VM50154, VM50053 and
VM50054" as well as "Power Module Performance Natural and Forced Air Convection
Module VM53075 and VM55075".

Page 25 contains graphs "VG Series Water
Cooled Heat Exchanger Performance Characteristics - Doubler (two cells, three
posts)" and "VG Series Water Cooled Heat Exchanger Performance Characteristics -
Half Wave (one cell, two posts)".
